REPOSERAIES

(1880 – 2000)

In the manner of an autofiction, Les Reposeraies is a collection of narratives—imagined or lived—to which I pair portraits of anonymous individuals, painted or printed. The rhythm of text and image comes together as a mosaic of thoughts drawn from ordinary life.

What the painted portraits share is neither the medium, the support, nor the format, but their origin: they come from cemetery medallions, dating from the late 19th century to the early 2000s, in France and abroad.
