Quantum Sensation – Atoms and memory

A source of fascination for some and a source of fear for others, quantum physics explores particles that lie beyond the reach of our senses, challenging our intuitions and our imagination. While it helps explain our world, it also reveals a hidden side imbued with mystery. For one year, I immersed myself in this universe through collaborations with laboratories in France and Canada. This project reflects on that quantum journey, weaving together atomic noise, memory, reconstruction, and the daily life of the laboratory.

This project, under the patronage of UNESCO, received support from the Nicéphore Niépce Museum of Photography, Sorbonne University, the Collège de France, PSL University, the Henri Poincaré Institute, the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the City of Paris, the Île-de-France Region, the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR), the University of British Columbia (Vancouver), and the Embassy of France in Canada.

Tomography of a memory recollection

Like memories, our understanding of quantum objects depends on the way we interact with them. They change as we observe them. Whether memories or atoms, reconstruction resembles a puzzle pieced together from fragmented observations. What reality lies behind this world that we are constantly reconstructing through our own perception?
