The skin of the forest

For the past ten years, the ancient forest ecosystem of Telč (Czechia) has been weakened by outbreaks of bark beetles. These outbreaks are increasing as the climate changes. The forest is transforming and the bark falls away, leaving a bare landscape. Yet it remains at the center of everyday life for people living in the surrounding areas, who live alongside it.

This project is both an observation of living ecosystems and their transformation, a testimony to changing landscapes, and a reflection on our relationship with the forest. It is the result of an artistic exchange program offering a one-month research and creation residency between the cities of Reims (with the support of the Montagne de Reims and the Grand Est Region) in France, and Telč in Czechia.
